They come from Houston, Texas and make folk and alternative rock music, these six men and one woman who operate under the name Caedmon's Call – mind you, they do all this with the subtitle 'as contemporary Christians'.
The poems of Caedmon are the earliest English poems the poet's name is known of. He once was a simple Anglo-Saxon shepherd and not even vaguely familiar with the art of song, but in a dream (so in one night only) he was taught to compose verse by the Supreme Being.

Such events are bound to have consequences: he became a monk and a competent and inspired poet.
