(1971-1976; 2005-now, GB) – At its conception in 1971 Babe Ruth was called Shacklock, named after guitar player Alan Shacklock.
It did not take long though before the progressive rockers from Hatfield adopted the name of an even more cherished person. Babe Ruth (George Herman Ruth, Jr. in fact) after all was one of the greatest baseball players the Americans have ever had.
Ruth, cuddled by ballpark visitors from 1914 to 1935, had several pet names: he was called The Bambino and also The Sultan of Swat.
