The brothers Richard and Fred Fairbrass are the founders of this English pop band.
Their first names are not insignificant, because 'Richard' sounds a bit like 'Right Said', while the correspondence between 'Fred' and 'Fred' will have not escaped the attention of most readers.
There is nothing wrong with the view that Right Said Fred basically is 'Richard Fred', but Right Said Fred is also the title of a so-called novelty song with which English actor Bernard Cribbins had much success in the sixties - and that made the Fairbrass brothers think.
