Fugees band name meaning

(1994-1997; 2004-2009, US) – Set out as Rap Translators and later going by the name of Tranzlator Crew, the band with home base West Orange, New Jersey eventually became the Fugees.

According to former frontman Wyclef Jean (he is an American of Haitian ancestry) Fugees is a shortened form of refugees: 'Everyone in the United States is a refugee to some degree. No one's culture originated here.'

Four Seasons band name meaning

The Four Seasons sound is sometimes described as doo-wop, but strictly speaking they should not be regarded as true doo-woppers. Close harmony singers is probably a better alternative.

Initially the sweet-voiced quartet from Newark, New Jersey called itself The Four Lovers, but as we all know they blossomed into the Four Seasons. The name has nothing to do with ever-changing atmospheric conditions, and everything with a bowling alley-cum-amusement arcade of that name in Union, New Jersey.

Apparently the act of the Four Lovers was rejected by the management of the hall. By way of sweet revenge the foursome then metamorphosed itself into the Four Seasons. Sounds unlikely, but perhaps for that very reason it could be the true story.

Foo Fighters band name meaning

The alternatively rocking Foo Fighters in fact are a sort of one-man project championed by David Grohl, who was Nirvana's drummer before that band transcended the cycle of reincarnation.


The crashed Roswell balloon or UFO

Grohl has a fascination for all things alien, as evidenced by among others the fact that he named his own record company Roswell Records, after an event that took place on or around 8 July 1947. At that time debris was salvaged, according to the US Government from a crashed experimental army balloon (‘project Mogul’), according to others from an unidentified flying object with the remains of aliens still on board the wreck. 

Concerning the original Foo-Fighters (note the dash): these are said to have been a kind of UFOs spotted by British and American pilots: unidentified aircraft capable of moving with high speed. It is believed that this phenomenon actually is a kind of ball lightning generated by the friction of open air with the metal hull of the aircraft.
