They will undoubtedly fight over it again, but Liam Gallagher was the first of the two Gallagher brothers to become member of The Rain, the forerunner of rock band Oasis (Manchester, England). Brother Noel Gallagher however gets the credit of being the source of the band name.
For a while Noel had been roadie with the Inspiral Carpets (also from Manchester), an indie rock band that - as a concert poster in the bedroom of the brothers shows - had played among others in Swindon in the Oasis Leisure Centre on North Star Ave. It was Noel who suggested to use the name Oasis.
